Describe the similarities and differences between the cytokinesis mechanisms found in animal cells versus those in plant cells.

Cytokinesis is a part of the cell division that divides the cytoplasm of a single parent cell into two similar daughter cells. The cytokinesis involves the cell membrane. As we know, that plant cells possess cell wall along with the cell membrane. Hence, the cytokinesis differs in plant and animal cell.

Cytokinesis in both plant and animal cells forms two equal cytoplasmic-content-filled identical daughter cells from a single parent cell. It is the last stage of both plant and animal cell division process.

But there are many differences between the processes of plant and animal cytokinesis. The main difference is that in plant cells, there is a event of formation of cell plate at the exactly middle of the cell which facilitates the division of the parent cell into two daughter cells.

But, In animal cells, cell plate formation is absent, rather a cleavage furrow is formed.This cleavage furrow then contracts in inward direction and thus the parent cell is divided into two.
