They are not just used for testing vaccines; they are also used for studying the various systems of the body, the impact of medicine, and many more.

GLUT transporters or glucose transporters are important for researchers because these channel proteins are concerned with the transport of glucose.

Glucose uptake in an individual depends on two major factors that are metabolic need and glucose availability. Along with these two factors, another factor is the number of GLUT transporters.

Glucose is the primary sugar for respiration and catabolic need, so its transportation to the cell is essential and must be studied.

In this experiment, the researcher can take the red blood cells of two guinea pigs. One must be from the 15 days old guinea pig, and one must be from the month-old. These cells can be incubated in the radioactive glucose solution present at a pH of 7.4 and a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

The concentration of glucose in both cases must be measured after every 10 to 15 minutes. The result should be noted down for both cases.
