The ureters are muscular tubes connecting the kidneys to the urinary bladder, passing through the abdominal and pelvic cavity. The urinary bladder is located within the pelvic cavity, posterior to the pubic symphysis. In males, it lies superior to the prostate gland, and in females, it is anterior to the uterus. The urethra is the final part of the urinary system and is a muscular tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. In males, it passes through the prostate gland and along the penis, while in females, it runs from the bladder to the vestibule, between the clitoris and the vaginal opening.
