Melting crushed ice at room temperature will help in separation. After melting of ice, crushed glass can be filtered from the mixture. The water can be frozen to ice recovery.

The sugar can be extracted from the solution by the distillation method. The ethanol can be boiled off and the condenser can be connected. It is attached to a separate container for ethanol recovery. The sugar is left behind in the flask.

Iron has magnetic properties and sulfur does not. These two can be separated by using a magnet. Iron will get attracted to the magnet and sulfur will be left behind.

Paper chromatography can be used for pigment separation. It is widely used in analytical chemistry or separating dissolved chemical substances by using the property of different rates of migration across sheets of paper.
