Short Answer
The silver ions get reduced and the bromine ions are oxidized from the photons which enter the lenses in the process of film exposure. Further the silver ions are reduced with the help of a weak reducing agent known as hydroquinone in the process of image development. Then, the unreduced silver ions are removed by the addition of sodium thiosulfate to form a soluble complex from the solid in the process of image fixation
