Enter Atomic Number

Enter the atomic number of the atom when the program prompts you to do so. For Rutherfordium, enter 104, for Gold, enter 79, for Molybdenum, enter 42 and for Indium, enter 49. Respectively repeat these steps for each atom.

Note Valence Electrons

After entering the atomic number, the program will display the number of valence electrons for each atom. For example, for Rutherfordium the number of valence electrons is 4 (in accordance with its position in the 4th group of the periodic table), for Gold it is 1 (as it is in the first group), for Molybdenum it is 6 (as it is in the 6th group) and for Indium it is 3 (as it is in the 3rd group). Remember that the group number of an element in the periodic table often corresponds to the number of valence electrons.

Answer Questions

After obtaining the values from the calculator, write down the number of valence electrons for each atom as the answer.
