We can draw the structures from the IUPAC name of the compound by using the following rules and this is as follows.

a. Find out the longest chain and do the numbering.

Ex, If a compound is 3-methyl-butan-1-ol, that means the longest chain name is butane.

b. Find out the positions of substituting groups in the longest chain.

Ex- for the above compound, Methyl is attached to the 3rd position and the hydroxyl group is in 1 position of the skeletal chain or the main chain, So, I should be written in the 3rd position and hydroxyl group in 1st position.

c. “n” in a compound designated non-branched compound.

d. N, N means the substitution of groups to N of amine groups.
