• Select longest carbon chain, it is the parent chain;
• Longest chain must contain double or triple bond, if present;
• Number the alkyl or halo substituent carbon i.e. it should possess lowest number in the parent chain;
• Assign a number to each substituent;
• Write the name of substituent’s in alphabetical order while naming;

• As the name indicates, the compound is a cyclopentane, which means the structure is having five carbon atoms arranged in a cyclic form.
• Two types of constituents are present i.e. one bromo group and one ethyl group.
• Substituents are arranged in alphabetical order and with lowest possible numbering.
• The geometry of the compound is cis, it means the substituents should be arranged on the same side i.e. same plane.
