Discuss the major forces that move lithosphere plates. (B)

Lithosphere plates are the rigid outer layer of the Earth, consisting of the crust and uppermost part of the mantle. The major forces responsible for their movement are ridge push, slab pull, and mantle convection. Ridge push occurs at divergent plate boundaries and is caused by the gravitational force exerted by the elevated mid-ocean ridge. Slab pull occurs at convergent plate boundaries, where a denser plate sinks under a lighter one, pulling the rest of the plate along with it. Mantle convection is a heat transfer process in the mantle that creates convection currents, exerting forces on the lithosphere plates and causing them to move. Overall, these forces work together to cause the constant movement of lithosphere plates.
