Write two formulas that have monomial expressions in them. Explain how each is used in a real word situation.

A monomial is a type of polynomial, which is an algebraic expression having only a non-zero single term. Monomial consists of only a single term which makes it easy to do the operation of addition, subtraction and multiplication. It consists of either only one variable or one coefficient or product of a variable and a coefficient with exponents as whole numbers, which represent only one term, unlike binomial and trinomial, which consist of two and three terms respectively. It cannot have a variable in the denominator.

Consider the expression.

$A=lb\dots \left(1\right)$

This expression is the formula of area of rectangle where A is the area, l is the length and b is breadth of a rectangle.

Consider another expression.

$A=\pi \times r^2\dots \left(2\right)$

This expression is the formula of area of circle where A is the area, $\pi$ is a constant and r is radius of a circle.

Consider the expression.

$A=lb\dots \left(1\right)$

This expression is the area of rectangle and is used to find the area of any rectangular plot, surface area of rectangular tiles etc.

That is it is used to find the area of any rectangular objects.

Consider another expression.

$A=\pi \times r^2\dots \left(2\right)$

This expression is the area of circle and is used to find the area of any circular objects.

For example surface area of coins, surface area of wall clock etc.
