When a number is divided by another number, it gives a resulting number. The number, that is being divided is called dividend. The number, by which the dividend is being divided is called divisor. And the resulting number found by division is known as quotient

To find the quotient of the decimal numbers, first make the numbers decimal free by adding 0’s to the right side to make the equal digits after decimal and then remove decimal.

To find the quotient $\frac{12.5}{5}$, first make the divisor decimal free by adding 0’s or removing equivalent digits of decimal from dividend.

Here observe that the divisor (denominator) is decimal free, so divide them normally as shown below,

$52.5\begin{array}{l}12.5\\ \underset{¯}{10}\\ 25\\ \underset{¯}{25}\\ 0\end{array}$

Thus, the quotient of the numbers is $2.5$.
