Now the discriminant will be

$b^{2} - 4 a c = (1) - 4 (1) (- 3) = 1 + 12 = 13$

Using the quadratic formula we will get the zeroes

$x = \frac{- b \pm \sqrt{b^{2} - 4 a c}}{2 a} = \frac{- 1 \pm \sqrt{13}}{2}$
